On 15th January 2020 we said goodbye to Cyril Garnham aged 94 who died on 19th December 2019. A long-time resident of Bawdrip living on New Road he was a familiar figure around the village on his electric scooter. He managed to cover a surprising distance and was frequently to be seen driving down to the river or down East Side Lane. His favourite place to be was outside in the sunshine! He was also known to go into Sainsburys in Bridgwater for his shopping.
Cyril joined in with many of the village events and was a welcome visitor to the monthly Community Café. Carefully negotiating the door, he would drive in and people always rushed to help get him a hot drink and a sandwich. He was a man of many varied talents. He was keen to support events and managed to get into the church during the scarecrow competition to take part in the refreshments there!
Cyril invariably had a smile for everyone and was always happy to stop and pass the time of day. He will also be greatly missed by all his friends in the village.
